Depression is a complex issue and requires a fuller description than the one I can provide here. It goes beyond feeling sad or experiencing a low mood. It can affect your thinking, feeling, appetite, sleep, motivation, work and relationships. Please seek advice or help from your GP if you are actively thinking about ending your life.

Some of the signs of depression often include:

• Persistent feelings of sadness, hopelessness, or emptiness.
• Loss of interest or pleasure in activities you once enjoyed.
• Changes in appetite, leading to weight loss or gain.
• Sleep disturbances, such as insomnia or sleeping too much.
• Fatigue and lack of energy.
• Irritability, frustration, or angry outbursts.
• Feelings of worthlessness or excessive guilt.
• Difficulty concentrating, making decisions, or remembering things.
• Unexplained physical aches and pains.
• Thoughts of self-harm or suicide.

Clients often come to counselling when they reach rock bottom, feel in a state of collapse, isolation and loss of hope.

How I will support you

From the outset, we will focus on supporting your emotional needs and identify those areas most needing support.

Whilst exploring the root cause of your depression, we’ll seek to understand and change negative thought patterns and behaviours.

I will encourage self care, kindness and self compassion throughout your process with a view also, to the future, and how you might find connection, meaning and purpose once more.
