The good life is a process, not a state of being. It is a direction, not a destination. Counselling can offer support with the next step on that journey.
WHAT IS COUNSELLING?
Counselling is a process which enables growth and change. It’s an opportunity to be seen and heard; to feel safe and validated. The unique counselling relationship provides a confidential, healing space for you to explore the issues that are getting in the way of your ability to live your life authentically and fully. Counselling can provide a confidential and safe space in which to explore issues that you are struggling now. I offer a safe and supportive setting, enabling you to develop emotional resilience and the hope of long-lasting change. My work is based on current and up to date research into the mind/body connection.
HOW WILL WE WORK TOGETHER?
Ideally you will have your session once a week, at the same time and on the same day. For those of you who work irregular shift patterns I can accommodate some flexibility. Each session will last for 50 minutes. I am happy to have a brief telephone call to discuss availability and answer any questions you may have. I see clients face-to-face, via Zoom and on the telephone.
WHAT TYPE OF COUNSELLING DO I OFFER?
I offer humanistic counselling and have a holistic, person-centred approach. This means the focus of our sessions will be based on your current needs and issues. We will work at your pace and think about any issues which are having an impact on you now. This may include exploring historical events, relationships, unmet needs and any difficult decisions and transitions you may be dealing with now. To support you through your counselling journey we will also explore your current resourcing and self-care needs.
OUR FIRST SESSION
We will talk about what has brought you to counselling at this time. You may want to share some of your story and describe what issues you are struggling with. This first session is also a way for you to see how I work and ask any questions you may have. It’s also a chance for us to see if we are a good fit and would work well together. It’s really important that you work with the right therapist. We might also think about your needs in terms of short or longer term counselling.
